A Biography of a Latina LGBTQ+ Author, this book is the winner of Whiting Award.

Told in four parts, the story opens in 1985 in Puerto Rico. On the outside, Díaz is defiant and willful, stubborn and reckless, yet inside she’s a lonely, confused girl who just wants to please, to do the right thing.

The book does contain graphic descriptions of the life from a Survivor.
